Expert Panel Roundup
This week, our experts' panel convened with morphology consultants flying in and Skyping from all over the country. In addition to our local Nashville team, we had professors Joanne Carslisle from the University of Michigan, Bill Nagy from Seattle Pacific University, and Yaacov Petscher from Florida State University.
We made plans to develop more items for this school year, discussed how to vary the difficulty levels of existing items, and how to modify existing tasks to better tap our morphology construct. The design decisions we made this week will guide our work going forward and the team members will be working on item development and statistical analysis in the weeks and months to come.
In addition, we conferenced with our our partners at the Florida Center for Interactive Media (FCIM) about game-ifying out assessment! Our plan is to develop an assessment that doesn't demand endless pencil gridwork, but that engages kids in fun word activities and motivates them to do their best. Their initial plans sound great and we look forward to working with these awesome partners!
